Developing the future of jobs on demand in the UK

Project Overview

Project Overview

This project was a fun one to work on but also presented some unique challenges for us in the end. We were tasked with the  design & launch of his app two sided marketplace application. He wants to democratize the short-term working experience for service jobs; think Uber or DoorDash but for baristas, house cleaners, real estate agents and dish washers.

This project had three user types, the candidates; the employers and the Zipshift Admins. We were responsible for coming up with the design and development in flutterflow for all 3 platforms.

Problem Statement

Build out a cross platform app for hiring & getting shifts.

Create a worker and manager view for posting and applying for shifts.

Create a payout dashboard for workers to track their income.

Solution

We helped ZipShift Launch a Jobs Marketplace

With the Covid Pandemic and the toll it took on businesses and people who worked service jobs as well, the ZipShift team wanted to help businesses better find short term help without the need for all the HR paperwork and red tape. Zipshift also sees the benefit for workers — once you are prequalified & registered you can pick up shifts when you want without strings attached.

We were tasked with designing the mobile app for candidates and a web application for employers and providing ways for employers to post jobs, manage candidates, review candidates and hire candidates.

Building out a UX Journey

Kaleo collaborated closely with Zipshift to create, develop, and launch an innovative two-sided marketplace. This platform empowers employers in the United Kingdom to efficiently find, hire, and compensate candidates.

By leveraging advanced technology and user-friendly design, the marketplace streamlines the hiring process, making it more accessible and efficient for both employers and job seekers.

Design Solutions

We did some research on how best to implement the web application while making it cohesive with the mobile app we were building in Flutterflow. We conducted research around Bubble, Webflow + Wizard and Softr.

Deciding to build the web app within Flutterflow allowed us to  utilize some of the native features such as Chat and Push Notifications without having to do too much extra development work. This did provide some challenges such as Stripe Payments in Flutter Web and optimizing the apps for the web, but our team was able to take care of the proper steps in order to make the apps work seamlessly. We designed and developed the candidate app within the first 30 days of the project, while asynchronously designing and developing the web app for the employers, implementing the key features like posting jobs, managing applicants so that we could test those features early.

Conclusion

Cross Platform, Multi-Tenant Marketplace Deployed

We ran into some problems with Stripe & web implementation as the native stripe integration in Flutterflow doesn’t support web payments. Beyond that we had such fun building such a complex two sided marketplace that allowed for users to chat, apply, rate shifts / and rate workers and pay workers.

We also added a good amount of an admin panel for the Zipshift team in order to manage payments from employers to candidates and ratings and manage all things that go on in the Zipshift platform.

This app is only available in the UK so the app links below may not work.
