Redesign & UX Improvements
Native App, Web App Admin & Mobile Web
The rentcheck team approached us in mid 2019 because they had an MVP that they wanted to refine and improve the User Experience for the flow of filling out an inspection report. We had the great pleasure of building out all the screens and flows for the mobile app and the web portal along with mobile web experience for the landlord property management user type.
In order to redesign and refine the process as well as build out the brand new web portal, we had a number of preliminary meetings to determine what pain points the users were facing, what was preventing users from completing inspections & what needed improved overall.
The number one response was “it takes too long to complete an inspection”. We dove in and evaluated the app as well as documented ways to improve the app. Our goal was to improve & expedite the flow of filling out an inspection.
We allowed users to take as many photos as needed and then “continue” to the next step to rate, answer questions & leave a note. Combining the intro screen to each step with the camera view allowed us to off the bat have ~20% less screens to any inspection. We also provided an overview of progress both integrated into the process & a cumulative overview of the progress as seen below.
Along with doing inspections a landlord or property manager needs to add properties in order to have inspections tied to a property location. We also worked on making the entire flow of creating properties and inspection types smooth & efficient.
For the app redesign we were able to cut down on user time of completion for the inspection flow, we also created a master navigation for user's while they were in an inspection, so that they could navigate the property any way they wanted too instead of having to follow the route the inspection was setup in (front door, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom).
